Our Founder
Choreographer · Cultural Producer · Founder of Belly Art Dubai · Radio Host · Author
Marilyn Barrios has dedicated more than 26 years to Arabic Dance and the performing arts, creating a path that brings together choreography, cultural work, education and artistic leadership.
Through Belly Art Dubai, she has built a platform where dance becomes both an art form and a language of transformation connecting culture, discipline, feminine expression and creative identity.
“Art is not only what we perform — it is also what we build, preserve and pass on.”
Performance & artistic direction
As a Choreographer
Marilyn’s artistic journey includes stage productions, live performances and creative direction rooted in Middle Eastern dance. Her work blends movement, musicality and visual storytelling while honoring the spirit and aesthetics of Arabic culture.
“Every choreography should say something beyond technique.”
Production & cultural engagement
Cultural Events
Her work extends beyond the stage into cultural events that bring together audiences, performers and community experiences. Marilyn has developed projects where art, identity and human connection become part of the same story.
These events reflect a multidisciplinary approach that embraces performance, music, fashion and cultural dialogue.
Platform & vision
Belly Art Dubai
Belly Art Dubai brings together classes, performances, cultural experiences and creative projects in one artistic platform. It is the home Marilyn created for women and dancers who seek connection, growth and meaningful expression through Arabic Dance.

- Grow through discipline, grace and embodied creativity.
Music, rhythm & tradition
Iraqi & Khaleeji Dance
One of Marilyn’s strongest areas of expertise is Iraqi and Khaleeji dance. Her approach is shaped by years of immersion in the Gulf region, a deep respect for tradition and a refined artistic interpretation of the music, costume and movement language of the region.
This work values cultural sensitivity, authenticity and the emotional richness of Arabic performance traditions.
Voice & communication
Radio Host
Beyond performance, Marilyn also shares her voice through radio, where she explores ideas linked to personal growth, inspiration and meaningful artistic experiences. This dimension of her work reflects her ability to connect with audiences not only through movement, but also through words.
Author & educator
From Experience to Publication
As an author, Marilyn transforms years of study, performance and teaching into publications that preserve and share knowledge. Her book Belly Dance The Manual is part of that mission — creating resources that support dancers, students and women seeking inspiration through art.
“Knowledge becomes legacy when we choose to share it.”
Inclusion through art
Social Impact
Marilyn’s vision also includes creating spaces where art can be shared with accessibility, empathy and dignity. Through community and educational experiences, she highlights how creativity can open doors for participation, confidence and joy.
“When art becomes accessible, it becomes powerful.”
